  1. I really appreciate this blog. I have been with Sprint for almost 10 years now, and have been through almost every concievable bad customer service experience imaginable. I have had only 2 reasons for staying with Sprint: 1.) economics - the service that I am currently getting would cost me $60 a month more per line at ATT, times 4 lines. Even with a 20% discount that I can get through work, it still isn't worth it, [and don't even mention Verizon to me, I don't want to go there] and 2.) Even after months of haggling to get my account straightened out [like the year and a half I was continually charged for roaming when I had a roaming included plan, which cost Sprint about $1200 in refunds to my account] I eventually will get ahold of someone who does know what they are doing and will actually do what they say they are going to do. If I were to guess, you were probably that guy that finally figured out my roaming problem in 2005. (Now if I could just get ahold of you to figure out what happened to my 10% discount that I'm supposed to be getting.)

    But I digress.....

My economics have changed, and quite honestly, I am seriously considering that switch to ATT as soon as my current contract is up. (Reference that last problem I mentioned above.) The Palm Pre has my interest, and I guarantee you that I will take a hard look at it before making any decisions.

Here are my questions: 1.) Why is the customer service at Sprint the way it is? and 2.) What is changing that is so good that it will change my mind?

  2. Hi, I just want to know what to expect on battery life. How many hours are we looking at? I’m expecting the worst right now so any answer will be better than what I’m thinking it likely is.

  3. There's no point in trying to get the 10% discount back man...I was in the same boat. Sprint messed up my account majorly after I re-upped for 2 years. I ended up having a $900 credit to my account...which Sprint then used against me and wouldn't give me any discounts because "I already received $900 in credits".

Randomly, my loyalty discount disappears because "the new billing system doesnt allow it", or my $10 credit for a SECOND line in a family plan...where 2 lines are supposed to be included, disappears. Or a $5 credit, or any discounts/credits. This is just the way Sprint is. Pre or no Pre, they won't ever change. Juts cuz they're getting one of the hottest phones doesn't mean they will ever be a better service provider.

Sprint, the only company one would consider leaving, even if it means paying $700 more a year from another cell phone provider with less features.

  4. Actually, in my case it would be around $2000 a year. (That's $60 per line, 4 lines=$2880 per year less 20% off the entire bill or $80 a month.)

I still have all of the letters they sent me explaining the great discounts they were offering me (in 2003, 2005, and 2008) and I have my bills. It surprises me that there hasn't already been a class action lawsuit about the way Sprint is handling these "discounts."

  5. Yep..and I have emails from customer service reps who re-upped my plan and stated EVERYTHING that the plan came with....Sprint did not give a crap about that email. =(

I wish there was a class action lawsuit. Go on any forum, anyone who has ever used Sprint will complain about the same things: discounts disappearing, customer representatives lying, monthly bill screw-ups.

I guess this is why Sprint is losing millions of customers each year. I'm just hoping for the day another company buys them out.

  6. You guys are pathetic... first you complain about economics, and the whole point of you complaining on here for what reason? is because Sprint took away a measley 10% discount, but yet you are saying you are going to switch to ATT who is going to charge you more even without a 10% discount on sprint. makes no sense to me! I think your the CRAZY one, not Sprint. also, Sprints customer service is no different int he way it performs than ATT or Verizon or Tmobile.. they all the same, in fact after having experience with TMobile and ATT I have to give Sprint two thumbs up on their CS!

  7. Yes, driven insane by the repeated abuses of a company that doesn't follow through on its promises.

And, like I said, my economics have changed. I might be willing to give ATT a try, even at the the ridiculous cost of and extra $2000 a year. What do I lose except the money? If I go to ATT and I don't like it, I can come back to Sprint and I am no worse off.

So that's my question: What is changing so much that I shouldn't pay the extra money just to have the assurance that my bill will be what it's supposed to be, discounts and all.

Like Yuhan said, there aren't many companies that will drive their customers to their higher priced, lower quality cometitors. But Sprint did that to 1.3 million former customers last year. Can they all be so crazy?

  8. "Sprint customer service is no different in the way it performs than ATT or Verizon"....
FALSE. There's a reason why Verizon is #1 in JD Powers.

One thing I didn't mention before, is the countless hours I've spent on the phone, on the web chat, and writing emails to Sprint. Those hours...I will never get back and probably cost a LOT more than what I actually saved.

So you ask, why haven't I gotten out of Sprint?
I've tried to get out of Sprint a few times, but it sucks that they locked me up under a new 2 year contract and changed my plan after I signed the contract.

To me, having the Pre released on Sprint first is cool and exciting...but what will Sprint do to prevent the nightmares that I've had? What procedures have they put in to improve?

  9. I've also been with sprint for almost 10 years and have never had a bad experience with them.

  10. Honestly, if you're experience is that bad, there is something wrong with you for not switching.
