At the suggestion of a few folks, I've decided to sign up for Twitter. If that should interest ya, you can follow me 'InsideSprintNow' - no promises that I'll have the time to update frequently but we'll see how it goes. Also, I'll make my email address a bit more prominent for the folks that were unable to find it.

Great blog. Nice to see some actual information out here re. Sprint instead of the same old speculative crap.
ReplyDeleteI've been a Sprint customer since '01, save for a one-year hiatus in the middle when I was living abroad. Currently on a $30 SERO plan. Want a Pre, unwilling to swap into a $60 EPRP plan to get it. Just not worth $360 a year to me. If my options were EPRP at $60 or iPhone at about $70 (after my 10% union discount), I'd switch carriers. But I love my plan and get great service (even if the people at *2 are frustrating). I am, on the whole, a happy Sprint customer.
Not complaining - understand that the Pre issue is likely a stand-off for now. Two questions for you, though, if you wouldn't mind.
1. My preferred phone of what's left is the Treo Pro. I can buy that off eBay for the same price as I can get it from Sprint directly by re-upping my contract. I have no problems pointing that out to account services, and doing so keeps me free of a new contract. Question: what's a new contract worth to Sprint? In other words, what would be a reasonable request in return for a new two-year agreement? 6 p.m. N&W? Pick 3 (is Sprint still doing that)? 1st minute free? I get that my plan is about as good as it gets but I still feel like having me locked up is worth something, and Pick 3 (for instance) would eliminate any possibility of overage for me given my usage habits. Curious as to what people on the other end would consider reasonable.
2. In order to receive the mail-in rebate on a phone when a customer re-ups, does that phone have to be activated, or is simply enough that the line is active? If I renew, I'd prefer to just get my Treo Pro on eBay, ESN swap, and then buy a discounted phone from Sprint with a clean ESN and sell it on eBay. Just curious if that is/is not possible.
Thanks again for starting this blog. It's a great service to a lot of us.
I strongly recommend that you put this blogs rss feed through twitterfeed.com so each post is automatically posted to twitter.
ReplyDeleteI am in the market for a smartphone. It's a Palm pre or an iPhone v3. For me the following issues will swing my purchase decision. Flash in the browser. The ability to post video messages to qik.com etc. gsm network in europe, great camera and I'm worried that the pre won't make it for me on at least 3 of those points. Think this is a really great blog by the way. Lots of info I'm looking for. Respect :)
