Domestic Roaming Mobile Broadband Service No Longer Available for Select Markets

Summary: Starting 9/18/09 some Sprint CDMA customers will experience slower broadband connectivity and a few customers will experience a loss of voice and data connectivity while roaming on select Sprint roaming partner networks.

Effective Date: 9/18/09

What you need to know:

  • Sprint CDMA customers roaming in the following markets will experience a loss of Mobile Broadband (EVDO) connectivity on our roaming partner‘s network. They can still connect at 1xRTT speeds.

  • This means when customers are roaming in these select markets, they will experience slower connectivity.

    • Georgia - Impacted Market: Waycross

    • Ohio OH - Impacted Markets: Defiance and Napoleon

    • Virginia – Impacted Markets: Staunton, Marion and Wytheville

    • Tennessee– Impacted Markets: Morristown, Bristol, Johnson City and Kingsport

    • Wyoming– Impacted Market: Yellowstone

    • Montana– Impacted Market: Malta & Glasgow.

      • Note: For Montana customers only, the Strategic Alliance Roaming (SRA) experience has changed. These customers will not have Mobile Broadband, but will now have Voice and 1xRTT with a roaming icon displayed.





  • Sprint CDMA customers roaming in the following market will experience a loss of voice and data connectivity on our roaming partner‘s network.

    • Louisiana - Impacted Markets: Houma



  • Coverage tools are being updated to reflect loss of service by 15th of the month.

  • Network Event Board is being updated accordingly.


What you need to to do:

  • If customers call because they experience the slower connectivity or a loss of voice and data connectivity while roaming in these markets, apologize for the inconvenience.

  • Let them know Sprint is aware of the issue and working to resolve quickly.
