HTC Hero User Guide

What blows the HTC Touch Pro II out of the water and launches on October 7? The HTC Hero, that’s what! It may seem like a tough decision between the Hero and the Touch Pro II – especially for those accustomed to a Windows Mobile device – but once the Hero is in your hands, the decision is an easy one.

  3. No keyboard on HTC Hero puts it on the bottom of my list. Even an old Blackberry blows it out of the water since it has a keyboard.

  4. Ummm...no, it doesn't. A physical keyboard is a personal preference. Let's not be silly.

  5. Four questions:

    1) October 7? That's fantastic, but you're the only person who seems to think that's so. Is that so?

    2) Tethering. Thanks for putting up the user guide. On page 108, it says that tethering will be available (called Mobile Network Sharing.) Will that be included with the Everything Data plan by itself, or will we need an additional Phone as Modem add-on?

    3) Rooting. Sprint & Palm have apparently been pretty good with letting folks root the Pre. There's been some discussion that the Hero will be locked down from rooting, what have you heard?

    4) Cupcake or Donut and with or without the speed-up firmware? So is this shipping with 1.5 or 1.6 of Android, and is it coming with the firmware that makes this a speedy little device, or will that be coming along later?

    Thanks!

  14. As a US Sprint customer, my options have been mostly limited to WinMobile, Blackberry, and Palm. Not interested in blackberry ... although i currently own a Palm Centro ... although it is a reasably good phone, i have not been suitably impressed with the OS or freeware apps . Yes i said it FREEWARE. There ... WinMobile had the market cornered! My mogul was a wonderful little computer ... despite the frequent need for soft resets ... but a really cruddy phone. When i read about Android i got all excited ... but ... alas no phones on the Sprint network. Share your review with me at http://www.HTC-Hero.com a site for HTC Hero fans.
