Friday AM Update on the HTC EVO 4G LTE

8AM

MANY people are now playing with their new EVO LTE - but some are still waiting. Despite the lack of internal updates, here's what is known as far as delivery/pickup dates.

Also.. if you're wondering what that 2nd package is that you're receiving - it's a free Gel Case for your new HTC EVO 4G LTE! Sprint's way to say 'sorry for the delay'!

Sprint:
Online orders are mostly all delivered, and in-store pre-orders should be arriving at some point today. There has still been no word internally on why it's taken so long to get them to our own corp stores, but the wait should be over within 24 hours according to what I'm seeing.

Best Buy:
Online orders have shipped overnight, and in-store pre-orders were able to be picked up in more stores as of yesterday

RadioShack/Target:
Pre-Orders will be arriving at most locations this morning via FedEx, and will be immediately made available for pickup for pre-orders.

Wirefly/Amazon:
I still haven't heard a definitive answer on these two 3rd party resellers. For this one, you probably have better information that I do. However, no one has yet been able to say for sure where the delay is at.

Other notes...

Late last night it was discovered that a few shipments had mismatches between the ESN(serial number) on the outside of the box, and the device inside. This was not due to Customs, but rather a labeling error from HTC. It's not a large deal, and care or webchat can clear it up for you, it will only take a few extra minutes when activating.

There is an expedited process in place for lost/damaged/not received packages... so if you get the runaround if you are having this issue, keep escalating until someone offers it.

And we still have no official launch date. The delay of this has been for a couple of reasons, the primary one being the promise to make sure that all pre-orders are available before the launch date. And this has taken a day or two longer than expected. Will we hear word of an official launch today? I'm optimistic that we will.

Remember twitter (@InsideSprintNow) is where you'll get the news first, as it's easier for me to sneak a tweet sooner than a full post for breaking news, like a launch date, as soon as it happens :)

  1. If we pre ordered from a Sprint corporate store and they indeed received their shipments, will they allow us to get our pre orders? Or would we have to wait? Best Buy/Target/Radio Shack are giving em out as soon as they come in....Shouldn't Sprint be the same?

  2. I am still waiting on Wirefly order. I ordered on 5/7. I chatted with a rep @5pm yesterday and he didn't have a firm date. It was at least worth a quick chat. It seems like any who calls in gets upgraded to 1-day shipping (FedEx)

  3. yea, my understanding is that the moment they hit the backdoor, they are fair game!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Thank you so much for this info. I have been going nuts trying to figure out when I'm going to get mine from the store, so hopefully I'll get mine today. You're the man.

    ReplyDelete
  5. let us know as soon as you get a notice, or shoot me an email. I have ZERO info on wirefly as their shipping is via yet another 3rd party

    ReplyDelete
  6. oops, didn't mean to post this as a reply, sorry

    ReplyDelete
  7. insidesprintnow, you're the man. I was going nuts yesterday when Best Buy had them, but the Sprint stores didn't. I called the Sprint store, and one girl (who I am starting to dislike, lol) told me they wouldn't come in until the second week of june. Another employee told me they should be coming in by 3pm, which didn't happen, and then after 3pm, it seemed they had all lost hope and were just saying they didn't know.

  8. No second package so far, but what's the deal with forcing me to change my plan from family share everything data to a single plan? I also had to change my wife's plan when I switched her to my Evo 3D from the everything data shared data to a single plan. That's BS, Sprint! If I'm going to get nickel and dimed like this, I may as well switch her to Verizon (her contract is up) and I know their LTE network kicks ass and isn't vaporware at this point.

  9. Thank you for all of the updates! I am completely annoyed with Best Buy, I unfortunately ordered and paid in full on 5/9 for my phone on line when I should have just done it with Sprint or at the BB store. After 3 email, 3 disconnected phone calls to their CS department I finally get a human being only to tell me my phone is shipping out today which means next week sometime...how lame.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Call and have them fix it. You can't activate a new phone on a family plan online properly for whatever reason.

  11. No info from Amazon Wireless at all. They seem to know nothing, have not charged my account as of yet and the estimated arrival date still says 2-5 July. I can't believe that Best Buy & Target have shipped phones to people and we're still sitting here waiting even though we also pre ordered our phones.

I just received this message dated 5-25-12 from HTC: "HTC is working closely with U.S. Customs to secure approval for shipments of the HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE. HTC has not made any announcements about a new launch date and will provide an update on availability as soon as we can do so confidently. Delivery of pre-ordered products is on hold, and Sprint will provide customers with a ship date as soon as possible. Sprint will maintain the promise for the pre-order customers that they will be among the first to receive their HTC EVO 4G LTE phones. As far as ordering it through a different disturber, HTC does not have a actual date available. I do apologize for any inconvenience and HTC appreciates your patience."

What the heck? This almost sounds like it should have been from days ago. It's beginning to look like Amazon Wireless orders are held up indefinitely and now we're the ones who will have to deal with mismatched serial numbers? Huh? What is care or webchat?

I have another question that I asked under the 4G/LTE service areas and the run down for how Sprint plans to enable LTE but it was never answered so I'm going to post it here, if that's ok? 4G has never been in Dayton, Ohio and of course it's been 2 years with my Evo so I'm wondering if Dayton will ever get 4G/LTE? I did not see Dayton listed on the list for Sprint's upcoming LTE plans...can you help me? Thanks!

  12. Amazon upgraded me to 1 day shipping as well but UPS or Fedex does not deliver here on Saturdays so it'll be Tuesday at the earliest. I doubt Amazon will shell out the extra dollars to have it delivered on Saturday. Jerks

    ReplyDelete
  13. I went on chat and asked them where it was, and they gave the same "we'll have update information late this week" and offered me the free shipping upgrade without me even asking.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I am impressed Sprint is sending a free case. That was a nice token of good will after they messed up so badly with PR.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hasn't been a great deal of information on this. When you say "in-store preorder" at Sprint, are you talking about being put on the waiting list they have at each store, basically?

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree wholeheartedly that the folks that pre-paid their orders in full should have received their phones first (though not necessarily before everybody else, given the circumstance), though leaving the folks that "thought they WERE pre-ordering" through the Sprint store fronts hanging in the wind without a word, is adding insult to injury. Everybody was in the same boat when the shipments got held up in customs. But the corporate office threw life preservers to everybody who purchased their phones for LESS, while the folks that were supporting the brick and mortars got a slap in the face. Hopefully devices will show at the stores today. Or I'm certain that a lot of folks who thought they HAD pre-ordered at the Sprint stores will be hunting down phones at Best Buy and Radio Shack, and Sprint employees are going to lose commissions they may have counted on, in an economy that doesn't allow many people to just go buying durable goods like a new fancy cell phone on a whim.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I better get my phone at Sprint store today!!! Been waiting forever and on top of that, I am paying full price!

    ReplyDelete
  18. This is how they should market the phone now: The Evo 4G LTE, the phone Apple didn't want anyone to see!

Got my phone in yesterday and having a blast with it. The patience definitely paid off!

    ReplyDelete
  19. will 3rd party buyers also get the free case? Or is that JUST for people that pre-ordered from Sprint directly?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Do you know about what time the corp stores are expecting their shipments today?

    ReplyDelete
  21. sprint is doing it for the customers that pre-ordered through them, as far as I know. It would be up to the other 3rd parties whether they wanted to do anything or not, as we don't ship to their customers, just to their distro center.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I agree wig!!! If the phone doesnt show up today, I will go buy it from someone else because Sprint is so stupid!

    ReplyDelete
  23. still same story last night from Amazon they have no idea when they will be receiving the phones! beyond frustrated with the lack of information!

    ReplyDelete
  24. hopefully Sprint will have my phone available for me to pickup today, seems like no one in the Oregon area got their Evo ready to pickup wether from Best Buy or the Sprint Retails.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Frankie, i live in Oregon and i am hoping that it is coming tday!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. To bad it is a silicon case I hate those things I seem to drop my phone more because it gets caught in my pocket and then bam! BTW I got a screen protector from Best Buy yesterday and it is a ZAGG and it does not fit on the screen properly. Do not waist your money I am taking it back today!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Neo, Neo, Neo.... do you realize how much whining there's going to be about the color of their FREEBIE.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I ordered online with Best Buy on the 7th, but they haven't charged my credit card yet. I spend a lot of time on the phone with them yesterday, and it seems that all systems are go, but I haven't received shipment notification, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I had the same issue, but I just went over to my local Sprint store and they took care of everything there. I was able to maintain the family plan that my wife and I are both on.

    ReplyDelete
  30. if so, I'm sure I can arrange for them to give it back :P~

    ReplyDelete
  31. I hear you man, I was disappointed yesterday, but I still have high hopes for today!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm in Utah and don't think any have shown up. Neo - do you know when corp stores in the west usually get their shipments? I'm leaving for vacation at 3pm and would LOVE (EVO L) to get it by then. :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well, I'm another Wirefly pre-orderer, and I chatted this morning with them. Still no phones in stock as of 8am central time. I was also trying to find out what to do if I need to change my shipping address, since I'm moving next Wednesday. The Wirefly customer service agent tried to put my order on hold until Wednesday, saying that if it ships Wednesday, if I don't put my order on hold it would ship to my old address.

So them saying "if it ships Wednesday" doesn't instill me with much confidence that they'll ship anytime soon. Hope I'm wrong.

I can only assume that since Wirefly & Amazon don't have any in stock, Sprint isn't sending them any because they don't have enough to fufill pre-orders. Again, I hope I'm wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Some positive input from one of the Sprint stores as of minutes ago. They are ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that they WILL NOT receive any LTE's today, even though UPS won't show until later today.

    Good Job Sprint!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I'm hoping they're not fair game but rather available only to those of us who placed pre-orders. Or I'd be torqued. I'm hoping end of day or tomorrow they'll let us pick them up. Thanks for all the hard work at keeping us informed.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Since I can't edit...I was just told by another store, that they got the word that they'll have phones available NEXT FRIDAY! (June 1st) Ha Ha Haaa...

    NICE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I didn't get no Gel Case!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. The reason you have not seen "Dayton, OH" listed as receiving 4GLTE is because it is within our Cincinnati market. It will be upgraded to LTE as will the rest of the current footprint of the CDMA network by late 2013/early 2014.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I foresaw the potential for getting the phone from a 3rd party or back order, which i why I paid full price from the online Sprint preorder and was on right at 8. One of the few times I have had foresight.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I get the feeling you have to take what people say at the Sprint store with a grain of salt. They don't seem to have much info regarding when they get stuff in. You'd think they could track shipments to their location since Sprint uses UPS, but...

    ReplyDelete
  41. So I didn't pre-order last week because the release date was so close that it'd be better to just buy it on launch day. Now I have to use this janky flip phone for at least another entire weekend because they're holding back the launch to make sure pre-orders get theirs first? Don't want to sound whiney here, I'll live without the phone for a few more days, but trying to satisfy one group of customers at the expense of another is not good customer service.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I am so unhappy with Amazon and whoever is not shipping it to them. I want to cancel my order and just go to best buy but i dont know if i"ll get it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Well damn...

    Now I'm mad I DIDN'T get a case >:/

    Haha

    ReplyDelete
  44. It better come today... Or not ill just go buy it at Radio Shack..

    ReplyDelete
  45. does everyone who ordered from sprint get one? thank you once again for all the information you share, your a great person

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ahg. Really free Gel case?? I just went out and bought a case for a little bit till they got the Defenders in... >.<

    ReplyDelete
  47. I don't know anything or have any sources... but it looks like that original June 2nd release date is starting to come to fruition

    ReplyDelete
  48. That'd be typical of my luck. I'll be out of town for work. So very close to just cancelling, but I'm a sucker and suckers don't cancel.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Just chatted with Wirefly customer service. I was told "We are expecting to receive new stock for HTC EVO 4G LTE this week. As soon as we receive the devices from Sprint, We will start processing your order." This week means by the end of today right? I was also able to get my shipping upgraded but I had to ask for it.

    ReplyDelete
  50. i got it but for now its ok, my evo 3d runs a lot faster, maybe i have to wait for lte to go green in chicago

    ReplyDelete
  51. Got my phone yesterday......gell case 30 minutes ago.....& grabbed an Otterbox on my way into work this morning from a Corp store. This week just got SOOOO much better!

OAN: does anyone have any news regarding WireFly orders my baby Sis ordered hers from them & received the $$ back. With no expalanation as to what the next steps are which sucks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. You may not be able to answer this, but I went in last Thursday to a Sprint store and asked for a preorder. The guy said they weren't doing them because he thought stock would be delayed (this was before the actual delay was announced here even) but that he'd take my name and info and add it to the DWL even though I didn't buy a gift card. He said "consider yourself on the list." If I go in today and make the argument with money in hand, do I stand a chance of getting a device?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Best Buy ROCKS!!! After all the discounts yesturday my 2 new baby Evo's were free. Plus I got my phone before many people who pre-ordered through Sprint. Bang Baby

    ReplyDelete
  54. Also, Best Buy is right in the same parking lot, any leverage with threatening to just go to BB even if I have to wait the same amount of time, on the principle of being told I was pre-ordering and I might have been misled?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Just received a gel cover for from sprint. I thought it was a nice gesture.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yeah... rub it in! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Sorry, that was for the people raging on Best Buy.

    ReplyDelete
  58. *****... Thats messed up to show off, and realize that people havent even got the phone yet..

    **edited for content**

    ReplyDelete
  59. Understand what you mean, but using that word isn't acceptable. Find something else. It's 2012, it's time to stop using those types of terms as insults.

    ReplyDelete
  60. If it makes you feel better, checkout took 3 long hours.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I agree with Duffin.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I got my Evo yesterday from a BB Mobile store in Oregon at around 2pm. Hopefully you guys get yours within today.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I was busy playing with my new EVO LTE and missed the whole case thread somehow, neo. Is Sprint shipping cases out separately? I only got my phone yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I received my Sprint Online Pre-Ordered HTC Evo LTE yesterday via UPS, and called the local sprint store to see if they had any Otterbox cases in. They did, but the sales rep was confused as to why I cared until I told him I had my phone. He offered to COMP me the case if I would bring my phone in and let him see it. Needless to say, I did. I thought it sad the first time they saw their company's new phone was in a customer's hands.

    ReplyDelete
  65. do all sprint pre oders get it?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Just called Sprint and spoke to the manager, he said that UPS came this morning and DID NOT have any Evos...... Sprint is full of Sh*t man... They jack up every damn launch... Im buying my phone from radio shack, if it comes in this morning.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Maybe you shink about purchesing through Best Buy:)

    ReplyDelete
  68. Hey without giving any numbers..Does it look like based on pre-orders and pre release demand this handset will be a success

    ReplyDelete
  69. I have been emailing Amazon Wireless every day this week since the phones were released ... still getting the same old yadda yadda July 5 yadda yadda.

I am pleased to note though that A.) They have not charged my card yet, and B.) My upgrade status is still good (via texting UPGRADE to 1311)

So ... if I were to cancel the Amazon order, what would be my chances of being able to get the phone in either a Best Buy or Sprint store?

    ReplyDelete
  70. That is from Days ago. Actually almost a week ago. The National launch will be next Friday June 1st. The EVO 4G LTE have cleared customs. Last Sunday. They don't need to check every phone. They just needed to check the model. It cleared. There's no hold up. I also spoke to sprint and they have them in their warehouse as of Monday May 21st, but had to ship their pre orders first and then to the other stores in order. Then they have to get all the stores ready for the National launch next week. They are not supposed to tell you when it is, but Sprint employees. Not in the store. Corporate & Telesales have the email blast telling them the launch is next week, but they are not allowed to say what day. I told them they have always released it on Friday so it has to be June 1st. Next friday. They giggled and said it is next week, but they are not allowed to confirm the actual day. I think that's stupid. Tell me it's next week but you're not allowed to tell me which day?

    ReplyDelete
  71. last thursday wasn't before the delay. HTC announced the delay last wed. May 16, 2012

    ReplyDelete
  72. YOu won't get it at the store until June 1st. Next friday. I got mine yesterday, but only because I pre ordered from Sprint corporate / telesales.

    ReplyDelete
  73. This week? not at all. They ran out around 6pm EST yesterday

    ReplyDelete
  74. Preordered my LTE on 5/7 from Sprint Online. Started to get impatient yesterday because it seemed that everyone else had either received theirs, or had gotten a tracking number. When I checked on my order on the website, it showed as cancelled!!! It seems there was a "system glitch" and my order (along with ??? other preorder customers) had their orders inadvertently cancelled. My order was reinstated, but no ETA on when I will receive my phone. Yeah, first in line, but looks like I am going to be the last to get the phone. Thanks Sprint.

    ReplyDelete
  75. This is sum bs; just holding my money up in sprint store and still havent receive nuthin.Either give me a discount or refund my money. Three weeks is to long.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Have Sprint ship phones to wirefly's distro center yet

    ReplyDelete
  77. without a doubt.... and I'd expect the white version in about 8 weeks. Demand is nuts.. there is another few shipments that came into the warehouse this week, they're all spoken for between 3rd pty's and customers, too.. and I expect there may be a short backorder even after those go out. SOO ready for this weekend, LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  78. For some odd reason, I'm not seeing the correlation of your user name and this post. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  79. not sprint's fault. HTC got held up in customs because of the Apple law suite. That's Sprint's fault?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Sounds like your account was not in good standing. That's when they cancel the orders. Once you get it back in good standing they reinstate the order

    ReplyDelete
  81. Yeah I don't think so. I ordered through Sprint and had mine early Morning May 23rd

    ReplyDelete
  82. So... employee launch will be about 4-6 months. Haha.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Sorry but I received my phone yesterday and i'm still trying to figure out if I can take screen shots with my EVO?

    ReplyDelete
  84. It's all good!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Hey Neo....quick question. I got my LTE yesterday through Best Buy. It rocks BTW. However, I went into a Sprint corporate store today, got mobbed because they hadnt even seen the new EVO yet. What I was wondering is, one of the reps there told me that if I called into customer care, that they would waive the upgrade fee as a gesture of good will for the delayed release? Have you heard anything about that?

    ReplyDelete
  86. Finally got my tracking # from best buy. UPS will be delivering to me Tuesday...wish it was today to play with over the weekend but oh well what can I do.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Lucky. regretting my decision to pre order in store at Sprint, BB would have been better or even online.
Hopefully today will be the day though.

    ReplyDelete
  88. no... there's been no communication about that at all (of course, your mileage may vary, depending on who you get) - with all that said, however, the store's answer to everything is 'call care, they'll waive the fee'... when in reality, if they wanted it waived, they'd note the account under their own name, or have it done via their normal channels. Trust me, they won't note an account saying they told you that.. lol

    ReplyDelete
  89. Just called around to see if any Best Buys had an extra pre-order i could pick up. they all said no. but the last one I called told me that they have none, they are all being stopped at the border because of a patent dispute and that they are not being shipped to any body or any stores. So I guess all of you that "got" your phones yesterday and today are liars and playing a prank on me. At least the Best Buy in Lancaster OH is on the ball!

    ReplyDelete
  90. I found the same problem online. I took mine into our local sprint store and it was fixed. It comes down to a single letter change on the end of your account number but should basically be no change from your old family plan. By the way when I showed up yesterday with my new phone they went nuts. No one in the sprint store had seen one yet. It took my 20 minutes to get it back.

    ReplyDelete
  91. You're right, I meant Tuesday. Whatever was the day before, because I read it the next day here at ISN.

    ReplyDelete
  92. No dear, the standing of my account is just fine. I was told the order was cancelled due to an internal "glitch" in the Sprint system and that they had to manually re-enter the order for me and the other affected customers. Look, I understand that "glitches" happen, I just wish that Sprint had taken the extra steps to ensure that their system glitch did not further delay my order.

    ReplyDelete
  93. The store still doesn't have any... This freaking sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  94. That is hillarious! Maybe his/her phone is so slow is getting last week's updates still. Good luck getting your phone!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Press the down volume and power button at the same time.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Which sucks, because it just wasnt the store that told me that. I had a tech support mgr on 5/22 tell me that also. But when I talked to customer care, they said that there is no way to waive it. LOL I then have a friend who, a couple weeks ago got the new Nexxus and their upgrade fee was waived. This sucks. We EVOGATE customers should have that done too!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Heard from a reliable source that Sprint Stores will get them in a day before launch which is most likely going to be May 31st or June 1st at the latest!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Heres something that I found interesting. A lot of us that had the older OG EVO 4G, like myself, wanted to upgrade because of ICS and such. Well look like HTC has heard our crys of fowl, they are actually sending out an OTA ICS update for the OG EVO 4G. Its on their official list.

Here is HTC's list of final OTA update phones.

    http://www.htc.com/www/help/android4faq/?cid=android4blog

    ReplyDelete
  99. My RS has them but wont give out tell launch date

    ReplyDelete
  100. I am going to lose my GD mind if the store pre-orders have to wait another week!

    ReplyDelete
  101. This whole thing is a joke. I pre-ordered at best buy and they only got the phones for a few of their preorders so here I keep waiting for a phone and grow more frustrated with the mixed answers I keep getting from Sprint best buy and HTC. So I can bet they don't have Saturday delivery so I will be stuck with my old EVO connected to a charger so I can use it this holiday weekend. Thanks Sprint and Best buy.

    ReplyDelete
  102. This is ridiculous. I'm just going to cancel my order from Amazon Wireless and wait until the price drop later on. I was willing to take the termination fee from T-Mobile so I can switch over to Sprint. I've been patient before and I can be patient again. It's not going to kill me waiting a month.

    Thanks for the updates.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Well... Just called customer service for Sprint and got told that it doesn't mean anything that I preordered in store, and that I should receive the phone by June 1st. Way to care about the customer. Never dealing with Sprint stores ever again.

    ReplyDelete
  104. I tried chat as well to see if they'd upgrade me to 1 day shipping, but they quoted me $20. No thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Battery update.... Off the charger almost 13 hours, setup emails, updated apps that came with phone, downloaded about 30, setup and logged into the apps, played with phone, played music and videos, checked emails, twitter, Facebook, took pictures, tested camera features, several long calls, sent texts, etc.
Battery at 33%. Original evo would be dead.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Here's some Wirefly news from over on androidcentral's forums, from someone supposedly from Wirefly.com (I say "supposedly" just because I have no way of verifying their identity for sure, but they seem legit):
    http://forums.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g-lte/175039-wirefly-pre-orders-4.html

"Hey everyone, I just wanted to post an update on the status of Wirefly's orders.

We know our first shipment is en route to our Sprint distribution point. As soon as it is received it will be shipped overnight to our distribution center and then to our customers. Please know we are in constant contact with Sprint and awaiting word on when we will receive HTC EVO 4G LTE units to ship to you. We are expecting a definitive date from Sprint no later than Tuesday and we will begin shipping the HTC EVO 4G LTE to our customers as quickly as we receive them. We will send you an email as soon as your device is ready to ship. Thank you for shopping with Wirefly, we appreciate your business.

I know it isnt definitive, but I wanted to let you all know the most recent info that I had to share with you. We appreciate your patience while we wait to receive the phones from Sprint. If you have a specific issue with your phone order from Wirefly, please send a PM and we will be happy to help you!"

    ReplyDelete
  107. One more thing... the specs on sprint.com says 1 gig ram, but it is 2 gig ram. Yay! They should update that...it might scare some away.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I'm thinking they'll need to give the phone away for free as a token of appreciation to all of the pre-orders that went through a Sprint store and got porked...

    ReplyDelete
  109. I was weary about paying full price on Sprint.com and then having this very issue occur. That is why I just preordered in store so I wouldn't be out $200 for god knows how long.

But let be real if you did in store its going to be a week at most, we are just jealous of those with their phones in hand already muddass!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  110. Neo,
In-store pre-order for me did not arrive today here in Oregon. Went to my local best buy and they had came through with their pre-orders yesterday.
    What's up with that?

    ReplyDelete
  111. where do you see 2 gig/ram? you look in the hardware info on the phone, and it says 1 gig/ram

  112. Amazon still has no idea what is going on... here's an email I received today.

    Subject: Your AmazonWireless Inquiry

    Hello Scott,

My name is JJ and I am responding to your email inquiry about the EVO LTE 4G. I have read the responses you have gotten back and I understand your frustration completely.

It is an unfortunate circumstance and please understand that this is not the experience that we strive for at AmazonWireless. But due to the unexpected events we are unable to offer much of a definite answer as to when the phones will be delivered. If we could get any answers for you we would, I personally had my manager look into this issue as far as he can earlier today because of the customers I have had about this issue and I still have not got any answers.

The July 3rd estimate is the only one that we have gotten so far. There is still a chance that you will get the phone earlier than that, but at this time we have no more information on the matter.

Once again I would like to apologize for the situation, and thank you for your patience during the process. If you have any other questions or concerns please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to assist you in any way we can.

We're happy to help you over the phone. Our customer service associates can be reached at 877-429-8502 every day between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. central time.

You can also reach us by e-mail at amazonwireless@amazon.com.

We look forward to assisting you.

    Best regards,

  113. After the continued delay at the Sprint store, I gave up on them. A Radio Shack on the outskits of Austin, TX had 1 HTC Evo 4G LTE even though nobody had preordered it through them, so they let me buy it.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Congrats, I just bought mine from a Radio Shack, too!

    ReplyDelete
  115. Just bought the phone today from a Radio Shack..

    ReplyDelete
  116. Blame Apple, man. HTC and Sprint wanted this in your hands last week.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Thats for the Evo 4g+ which is a different phone

    ReplyDelete
  118. Yes I know that it is different than the 4g lte....but I know a lot of those that wanted the LTE still have their old OG 4G's. I am not sure what the + means, but according to HTC, they said that the release is for the first gen EVO's. I myself still have my white and black ones. So they will be getting updated. I just thought that it was funny that it got added to the list in the last week.

  119. free thank you gel case is a nice gesture, and will do until i get otterbox - anyone seen a OtterBox 77-20040 Defender Series for HTC EVO 4G LTE available? still back ordered on Amazon - willing to buy at local store if anyone knows where i can get one.

    ReplyDelete
  120. i used a save50 coupon code ($50.00 Invoice Credit2) on sprint.com for 2 htc evo 4g lte preorders .i paid $200 for both but will get the $50 dollars credit on my invoice for both phones.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Off charger just over 17 hours... battery at 17%. Plugged in and went to bed.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Settings - Storage - Internal Storage
    Total Space - 2.09GB

    ReplyDelete
  123. Congrats! Awesome...you'll love the phone.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Radio Shack is amazing!! Cant believe they had the phone! Now im just waiting for HTC Sync Mananger for Mac. So i can load my music.

    ReplyDelete
  125. I pre ordered my new evo through a sprint store in person and they still have no god damn clue when they are Coming! If I knew this I would of just ordered it online. I'm so pissed.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Yeah, I got my gel case last night too. Didn't really want one, but is IS a nice gift. I took my EVO to a small, local Corporate store and got it all set up with a screen protector, (It came with a protector for the back too) Otterbox Defender case, etc. Much to my surprise I expected they'd be all over me, and my new EVO, but the clerk told me "Oh yeah, we've already had two others in here."

    ReplyDelete
  127. Best Buy and Sprint brick and mortar stores have them. At least here in Maple Grove, MN.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Wow I just received my free gel case from sprint and I love it. I'm glad that they owned up to what happened and actually that really a lot to me. Oh and the case is pretty awesome too!

    ReplyDelete
  129. I ordered from BB yesterday. I was going to wait but the screen on my EVO 4g died. Yesterday, expected delivery was Tuesday the 29th with express shipping. Today, it's on backorder.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Best Buy ROCKS

    ReplyDelete
  131. My girl and I got our evos through best buy for free!!!

    ReplyDelete
  132. Had my phone for a few days.... Crazy love it. Received free case day after phone arrived.. got really excited until I opened the package and it is a champaign(ish) body glove case that has a JANKY plastic kickstand built in and NOT a slot for the famed BUILT-IN KICKSTAND of the Evo....... Weak play Sprint, weak play

    ReplyDelete
  133. Thank you very much for the update on the Dayton, Ohio LTE, I really appreciate that. Wow, we are gonna get LTE much later than many places, bummer. Ok so, I wondered if it was included in the Cincinnati, Ohio market but from what I remember reading, Cincinnati Ohio (an hour from me) already has 4G and Dayton does not so since this is the case, Dayton could be left behind when Cincinnati rolls out LTE, right? Any thoughts on this?

    ReplyDelete
  134. I was one of the lucky ones who's numbers dude match took about 4 hours for me realize.. Then had it straightened out.... Thanks for more very helpful news... The person whom I chatted with sprint was not aware of this issue but is now

    ReplyDelete
  135. Any one else seeing 2 gig of internal memory on their phone? Both Sprint and HTC specs say only 1 gig, mine shows 2.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Someone else had said that they saw that too, and I checked and it does show that there is 2 gig internal memory, but if you go into setting and hardware, it only says one. So I, among several others are completely baffled as to which it is.

    ReplyDelete
  137. Re-checked my phone...
Settings - Apps: 195 used 1.9GB free internal
    Setting - Storage: 2.09GB internal
    Setting - About - Hardware: 1GB
Hardware is programmed in... so I guess they forgot to update.
Apps and Storage is read and updated by the software.
So they gave us 2GB internal storage! Sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  138. Karla, I re-read my post it seems like it may have been slightly confusing...

I meant that the current Sprint coverage footprint is expected to be upgraded to Network Vision (which includes enhanced 3G as well as LTE) by the end of 2013 or early 2014. So, basically if you have Sprint coverage now, it will get LTE at some point in that time frame.

While I do not have specifics on the launch dates, Cincinnati should start conversion in early to mid 2013. Now, because that is months away, it is subject to change.

    ReplyDelete
  139. internal storage = 2.09GB total (apps 498MB, available 1.60GB)
    phone storage = 9.93GB total, 8.44 available
    storage card = 29.66GB total, 1.70GB available

BTW - cancelled otterbox order on Amazon and heading over to bestbuy as they have them in stock. rather pay $50 now than $100 later if the phone breaks and who knows when replacements will become available since this phone is in such hot demand

    ReplyDelete
  140. Just got back from my local bestbuy where I reserved an Evo on Friday afternoon. Although three preorders have not been picked up, they still wont sell them to me and have cited legal reasons. The associate there said that he was not allowed to sell any phones to people who did not preorder. What gives?

    ReplyDelete
  141. I purchesed mine from otterbox.com. Order date was Thursday night. My case shipped on Friday. Expected to arrive on the 30th. I found out that most online and local stores were sold out and on back order. I spent a little more for shipping but atleast I know I wont be waiting forever.

    ReplyDelete
  142. The EVO 4G+ is different from the OG EVO 4G that was offered on sprint. It was the non-3D version of the EVO 3D but wasn't released in the US.

    ReplyDelete
  143. It was released at the EVO 4G V in South Korea, according to my Google search. The OG EVO 4G doesn't have the processing capacity to handle ICS or anything higher than Sense 1.6.

    ReplyDelete
  144. picked up otterbox defender at bestbuy today. they had 4 or 5 on the shelf. my new evo feels like it has been locked away in a vault now. while it is extremely protected, the case sure does add a lot of weight and thickness. may take some time to get used to it

    ReplyDelete
  145. It has 2.09 GB of space for apps. That isn't the RAM.

2.09 GB of space for apps
    10GB of space for music/pictures/video/files/etc.
    4GB of space for updates

    1GB of RAM

    ReplyDelete
  146. You're confusing the 2GB of internal storage space for apps for the RAM. It has 1 gig of RAM and 2GB of storage space for apps.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Pre-ordered yesterday evening at Best Buy and received my phone this afternoon. After 72 hours, anyone who hadn't claimed their pre-order, lost it and they went to the next batch of people who pre-ordered. In order of reservation. Lovin' this phone!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  148. Best Buy is still taking "Pre-Orders" and the $50 GC still applies.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Pre-ordered yesterday evening at Best Buy and received my phone this afternoon. After 72 hours, anyone who hadn’t claimed their pre-order, lost it and they went to the next batch of people who pre-ordered. In order of reservation. Lovin’ this phone!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  150. They won't by my local store. Also called radio shack and they said pre order is over but they expect to get more in soon and will call when they do. They think they'll have more in today. I hope so I'm sick of waiting for wirefly.

    ReplyDelete
  151. Ok so today is Monday now, any recent activity?

    ReplyDelete
  152. It's a holiday ... Yay for a day off work, but boo for having to wait another day for updates.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Yeah yeah I'm a bit obsessive I know ... I am checking the Amazon wireless site frequently for updates in general and on my orders specifically - which have not changed, still stating a July 5 delivery date. Today there are some changes on the product page ...

    First, this note has appeared:
"We expect this item to be in stock soon.
Please check availability at a later date. "
    http://bit.ly/Kyd8Ee

And second, there are now two reviews which appear to be from customers who pre-ordered and have already gotten their phones: http://bit.ly/KydoTE

Neither reviews indicates whether or not they got the phone from Amazon or from another source. I may give customer service a call later.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Got an email from Best Buy to pick up my Evo this morning... get there, purchase, and then realize they STAPLED the pre-order slips to the top of the box. The staple went through the box and scratched/nicked the screen. To top it off, they stapled both of the last two available devices. Some people are REALLY effing dumb; No Evo today.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Yep... you're right. I was to busy comparing original evo to new evo. 500mb internal memory to 2 gig, not to be confused (as I was) with RAM. Which was one of the few things I didn't like; that and 9 second lag on pictures.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Stopped at a Sprint store at a mall looking for a case and they thought the phones are still being held up at customs. Wow... how can a technology store be so far behind the times.

    ReplyDelete
  157. I went to my Sprint store to get a better car charger for my phone... I showed them my Evo and all the employees in the store were crowded around looking at the phone even though they were already helping other people. It was kinda funny.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Oh, now that takes the cake... I'd find the person who did it and staple the slip to his forehead!

    ReplyDelete
  159. idiots....was the nailgun out of nails? have they never heard of scotch tape at BB? I hope they can get you a replacement ASAP!

    ReplyDelete
  160. I actually asked if they had thought of tape, she just gave me a blank stare. They checked all area stores with inventory and they were all reserved for pre-order. So I am not back on pre-order list. Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  161. If it just scratched/dinged the screen, but it still WORKED, couldn't you have demanded that they let you take it and use it until a replacement is available? Or get a 3rd party screen repair? No excuse for that kind of stupidity on BB's part, but to be completely without the phone (again!) is lunacy.

    ReplyDelete
  162. I thought about that, but was so annoyed by the experience in the store and the stupidity that I figured it best to just wait instead of dealing with them for another minute. 3rd party repair is not an option, I'm paying SRP for the device and it better be ABSOLUTELY perfect out of the box... lol

    ReplyDelete
  163. I am also one happy Sprint customer. I LOVE my Evo LTE, was so in love with my OG Evo, I didn't think it could be any better relationship with this new one. But IT IS! The battery life is awesome, the new gel case Sprint sent in a gorgeous teal is great for those times I need extra protection, though I prefer showing off the bare steel and black and red good looks mostly. It feels so right in the hand, ya know. Sorry for those of you still waiting. However, I learned when I wanted my Evo not to wait and to pre-order directly from Sprint as that was the easiest and fastest way to go--which I did not do and it took weeks and weeks and much calling and being on multiple waiting lists to get my hands on a phone. I figured this one would be just as "hot" and I was right. My HS graduate LOVES my OG Evo by the way. Says it is way better than his old Blackberry, though he is having to adjust to the battery issues lol (that I don't have anymore YAY!).

    ReplyDelete
  164. emailed amazon again this morning and got the standard stupid "we have no idea when we will receive inventory your estimated delivery is still July 5th crap!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  165. Got my 4G EVO LTE last Thursday, very happy, worth the wait. Still getting used to it and integrating all the apps.

    ReplyDelete
  166. If you're still waiting on the Sprint store, Amazon, or Wirefly to ship yours, I urge you to go on the hunt in your area to find one. This phone is AWESOME. I got mine at a Radio Shack. I hadn't been to Radio Shack in about 5 or 6 years.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Every place I checked locally claim that the phones are still stuck in customs, or according to my local Radio Shack, the phones have been cancelled altogether by HTC (they claim this info came from their Sprint AND HTC reps). Not one of the places I checked had any updated information, not even the Sprint store. Maybe I will just cancel with Amazon and wait until the Galaxy S II comes out. That was my first choice, but with the lack of any release date for that phone, and my need for one soon, I decided to go with the EVOLTE.

At this point, I am almost ready to just leave Sprint altogether, but I am not convinced that AT&T or Verizon is any better. What ever happened to customer service *sigh*?

    ReplyDelete
  168. If possible, check with stores on the outskirts of town (assuming that isn't what you did. If you did that, my bad). I searched for Radio Shack on Google Maps and found one way in south Austin, TX. They just happened to be the first one I called, but I was planning on calling every single one of them.

    ReplyDelete
  169. That was supposed to be Galaxy S III, not II.

    ReplyDelete
  170. I did check a couple stores further out from the St. Louis metro, but no such luck. The thing that bothers me the most with this whole debacle is the lack of knowledge by the sales people, and I can't really blame them for that - they only know what they are told and can only say what they are supposed to. Every last one of them basically called me a liar when I told them that Sprint, Best Buy and Radio Shack were already filling their pre-orders.

    ReplyDelete
  171. Hey I just found this site, and it seems to full of good news when the person running it posts. I have noticed though that a lot of you that have reordered didnt get yours. Well I know ebay has a few for sale if you are really wanting one. I myself have two, that I got through best buy last thursday. Both have been on an account, but I am not liking it so much, so I am selling them.

    ReplyDelete
  172. I received another template response from Wirefly regarding my order status. I can only assume at this point that there are serious issues with being able to fulfill third party orders and support full launch in a timely manner. Moving to another carrier seems like a better option at this point instead of waiting indefinitely for this phone and LTE network.

    ReplyDelete
  173. does anybody have any info on a possible new launch date?? I am going crazy just waiting like this

    ReplyDelete
  174. I am guessing that the phones that Sprint received from HTC went first to those 3rd party retailers who pay the most for them (or whom they like better, for whatever reason). You notice that the retailers who discounted the phone have not received their stock to fill preorders.

My question is how Amazon and Wirefly were supposed to fulfill their preorders on the original launch date, when they cannot do so a week after the phones left the Customs lockdown. Riddle me this, Neo.

I am getting worried that Neo might have been found out, or that the mole police were getting close so he had to go back underground. He has not said much today on the blog OR Twitter.

    ReplyDelete
  175. From what I have heard from my friend that works in the Sprint call center in Colorado...is that what has been sent out was what had already cleared customs before the lockdown was put in effect. There is no new date for launch, and those lucky ones, like myself, that got theirs last week, is it until this whole customs thing blows over.

    ReplyDelete
  176. I pre-ordered from wirefly myself. After numerous conversations without any hint of an update, I cancelled my order. I then called the Radio Shack's, Best Buy's, and Best Buy Mobile's in my area....luckily for me....Best Buy Mobile had 2 unclaimed, brand spankin' new HTC EVO 4G LTE's. They put in a "pre-order" for me, and 30mins later I walked out with my new phone. I did this last Friday, the 25th, and have been enjoying my phone all holiday weekend. Yes, I am bragging...but then again, I only have a phone because of my own doing. Good luck on Sprint providing an actual release date. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  177. From what I have been reading ALL EVO's passed customs. Why only a certain Number? Is it everytime they have to ship a batch they have to go through customs first?

    ReplyDelete
  178. From what I've read, customs has to inspect each shipment that comes in... Seeing how long it took for them to get THIS shipment out... Oh man...

    ReplyDelete
  179. This was posted TODAY on the HTC Investor website at http://www.htc.com/www/investor/

"HTC has completed the review process with US Customs and HTC devices have been released, as they are in compliance with the ITC's ruling. Future shipments should continue to enter the US and we are confident that we will soon be able to meet the demand for our products."

So, maybe we'll finally get real updates from Wirefly and a launch date? Sounds like they still may have been dealing with Customs even last week, still.

    ReplyDelete
  180. Interesting WSJ article with HTC stating all EVO/One shipments have cleared customs as of today.

  181. Apparently when the shipment was released last week, it was not all the phones that were en route to pre-order customers. This was just posted at the Sprint blog:

    http://community.sprint.com/baw/community/sprintblogs/announcements/blog/2012/05/16/htc-evo-4g-lte-update

    --------------------------------------------------------------
While Sprint customers who pre-ordered their HTC EVO 4G LTE received their device last week, Sprint continues to wait for our full inventory from HTC.

We recently learned that HTC devices have been released by U.S. Customs. We expect shipments of HTC EVO 4G LTE to enter the U.S. in the next few days. An exact availability date for HTC EVO 4G LTE will be communicated as soon as possible.

We?ll continue updating this post as we have new information to share.

Thank you everybody for your interest and continued patience.

    ReplyDelete
  182. This from Tuesday 29th at 10:30

After a two-week-long Customs delay, shipments of HTC's One X and Evo 4G LTE are flowing unfettered into the U.S., the company announced today.

"HTC has completed the review process with U.S. Customs and HTC devices have been released, as they are in compliance with the ITC's ruling," the company said in a statement. "Future shipments should continue to enter the U.S. and we are confident that we will soon be able to meet the demand for our products."

    ReplyDelete
  183. So apparently there wasn't a complete release of all phones from customs... just enough to fill most pre-orders.
The rest should start rolling out real soon.

    Today - May 30th - 10:30 Central

Last week, Sprint said that it would start shipping to those who pre-ordered the smartphone by May 24. In a statement today, Sprint said it expects shipments of the EVO 4G LTE "to enter the U.S. in the next few days."

"An exact availability date for HTC EVO 4G LTE will be communicated as soon as possible," the carrier said.

  184. Just got this email from Wirefly:

    Dear ****,

First, let me say that I am very sorry for the inconvenience that you have experienced with your preorder of the Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE through Wirefly. Although the situation was completely unexpected and out of our control, this is certainly not the sort of customer experience we endeavor to provide.

Each time we consider offering a preorder for a device, we carefully weigh the information we have available to us and make a decision based on whether the customer experience will be a positive one. I can assure you that had we known the inventory challenges this smartphone would experience, we would have chosen not to offer a preorder.

At this point, you probably know that inventory for the HTC EVO 4G LTE is severely constrained nationwide. The latest information we have is that US Customs officials only released a small fraction of the popular smartphones last week and the entire first shipment was just released (see article for additional information). We are in constant contact with Sprint and will send you an email with the latest information as soon as we can.

In the meantime, we appreciate your patience. We think that we offer great value and a positive customer experience. This situation doesn’t sit well with us at all. In addition to your Wirefly Preorder Price Guarantee, that guarantees you’ll pay our lowest price for up to 30 days after the device officially launches, we are also upgrading your shipping to Next Business Day at no additional charge. It isn’t much, but we feel it is the least we can do considering how loyal you have been to us.

Thanks again for shopping with us. We greatly appreciate your business and hope to be shipping your new HTC EVO 4G LTE smartphone soon.

    Sincerely,
    Andy Zeinfeld
    Chief Executive Officer

    ReplyDelete
  185. Same. I gather by that email (and the fact that it was even sent) that they may have just received inventory in their distribution center. If so, we should have our phones by June 1, if not tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Here's Amazon's latest, in response to my daily inquiry (Yes, I am harassing them):

    ================
First, please allow me to sincerely apologize for the delay in shipping for your orders of the HTC EVO LTE 4G Android Phone. Our goal is to provide the highest level of customer service possible and we are truly sorry that we have not met this standard. I understand you're upset, and I regret that we haven't been able to address your concerns to your satisfaction. We can't offer any additional insight or action.

We've appreciated your business and hope to have the opportunity to serve you again in the future.
    ================

I'm going to visit a local Radio Shack, and perhaps Best Buy to see if I have any luck there.

    ReplyDelete
  187. Well, lesson learned, I should have ordered directly from Sprint.com and almost did. I happened to be on Costco's website as I was getting ready to place my pre-order and saw that they were offering the HTC EVO 4G LTE for pre-order as well but also added a kit including a couple cases and screen protectors for the same price. So, I jumped on it. Well, I'm still waiting for my phone and they can not give me a firm answer as to when I will receive it.

Hey Sprint guy, can you speed up a shipment to the company that handles the phones for Costco (Wireless Advocates)? (wishful thinking)

Sad thing is my old phone died a couple days after I ordered so I had to transfer my number into my wife's old "dumb" phone and the battery lasts about 1/2 hour per charge. It's killing me!

    ReplyDelete
  188. The only thing worse about the whole customs thing is Sprints complete utter failure to communicate with their customers. It is ridiculous that no one (still) knows what is going on with this release. Is there even an "official" launch date yet (two weeks later)?

Way to completely screw up the launch of a "flagship" device Sprint! At least get off your arse and start making some kind of official statements. Just think how much worse it would be without this site.

    ReplyDelete
  189. Just called Amazon again and they supposedly have no idea when they are going to receive the product from the "manufacturer" their c/s people are so nice but seriously how can they have no idea? This is ridiculous!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  190. It looks like June 2nd launch date (link below). Still waiting for news on Wirefly...

    http://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/90799

    ReplyDelete
  191. Finally .... http://is.gd/c6NKmu

"Sprint will begin selling HTC EVO 4G LTE for $199.99 in most retail channels (including www.sprint.com and 1-800-SPRINT1) this Saturday, June 2. Sprint retail stores will operate on regular business hours."

Now if only Amazon would get the message ... and stock.

    ReplyDelete
  192. HTC just announced 27 minutes ago on their FB page that Sprint will begin to start selling the EVO 4G LTE this saturday at all retail chains and on line for the national launch. June 2nd

    ReplyDelete
  193. Well, I just received word from wirelessadvocates (the people that handle cell phone stuff for Costco) that my phone shipped today and I will see it Monday. Even though it was a pre-order, if the above info is correct, I still get mine AFTER the Sprint official launch. Go figure. At least I'm getting my phone finally!!!

Sprint guy, if you had anything to do with that, thank you.
